The Adirondacks are fortunate to be filled with ENDLESS green, forests, mountains (HIGH PEAKS), waterfalls/creeks, ski mountains/resorts, and much more. Lake Placid is a great central location for all your needs within the Adirondacks, and many more towns, that you can find here. Because of its location, there are MANY different Adirondack resorts to stay at.

As I previously stated, one of the best towns to stay in the Adirondacks is Lake Placid, which is where most of these resorts are located. Best Adirondack Resorts:

1. Whiteface Lodge & The Lake Placid Lodge

Okay, first on our list is the famous Whiteface Lodge. The Whitehouse lodge is a beautiful resort located in the heart of Lake Placid.

This resort offers many on-site and off-site activities for their guests. Such as, canoeing, swimming, tennis, pickle ball, fishing, ice-skating, movies, and more. In addition, you are very close to Whiteface Mountain which is one of the best Adirondack mountain hikes, and best Adirondack ski resorts. This is one of the best luxury resorts within the Adirondacks, as it costs about $360-400 a night.

Another great luxurious resort in the Adirondacks is the Lake Placid Lodge. They offer various dining experiences and different vacation packages. Guest cabins run from $650 and above, so yes quite a luxurious and expensive experience.

No question these lodges are some of the best places to stay in the Adirondacks, but like I said, they are some of the best LUXURY resorts to stay at. They are EXPENSIVE for the average person, however, if you have the money, I would stay at either.

2. Mirror Lake Inn

The Mirror Lake Inn is also located in Lake Placid, New York. Mirror Lake Inn offers many different vacation packages, including working on improving your skiing, exploring the Adirondack mountains, relaxing at the spa, and many more that you can find here. They also, offer different couple packages and many different room styles and rates. Rooms and rates range anywhere from $300 to $800 a night, so again, this is another great luxury resort to stay at.

Also, the Ampersand Bay Resort is another great resort. They host weddings and different events if you are interested. For vacation rentals, they offer many different styles of rooms/bedrooms and cabins. However, the price per night ranges from $315 to $920, so again, this is a LUXURIOUS resort.

Another luxury resort to stay at is the Point of the Adirondacks, located in Saranac Lake, New York, which is about 15 minutes from Lake Placid. They have many different styles of rooms, which are all lovely but expensive. In addition, they offer many different spring/summer and fall/winter activities at their resort.

3. Saranac Waterfront Lodge

Another FANCY resort to stay at, is the Saranac Waterfront Lodge. Even though, we are going slightly down in price, it is still expensive in my opinion. Especially, if you’re staying here for more than one night, because it costs about $180 per night. However, they do offer a lot of great things included in your stay.

Such as, a beautiful location (right on Saranac Lake), weddings, great dining, lake sports, many different winter activities, plus various different summer activities, and much more that you can find here.

Another great but again, EXPENSIVE resort to stay at in the southern Adirondacks is, The Sagamore. The Sagamore is situated right on Lake George, and has one of the best breakfast, is home to the ice castles, and much more at this truly BEAUTIFUL resort. Also, The Lodges at Cresthaven are a great family resort in Lake George, featuring the delicious Boathouse restaurant.

4. High Peaks Resort

Okay, this is are LAST luxury resort on our list, I promise. One of the best Adirondack resorts is the High Peaks Resort. The High Peaks Resort includes complimentary yoga, pet amenities, snowshoes and trails, water sports and more for their guests. In addition the resort, has many different packages, such as, spa services, cross-country skiing, snowshoeing, alpine skiing, and iron man participants in the summer. This resort is also located in Lake Placid, NY.

The average price per night to stay here is about $160-$200 per night. With everything that is included in this resort, it makes it one of the best Adirondack luxury resorts, most affordable luxurious resorts, and overall all-inclusive resorts within the region.

5. Crowne Plaza Lake Placid

Now, FINALLY we can talk about the best AFFORDABLE Adirondack resorts. The Crowne Plaza of Lake Placid has a decent price for its location and everything it offers. It is about $113-$200 per night to stay here. I know this is still pricy, but if you book this hotel enough in advance, you can pay CLOSER to $113 rather than $200.

This is one of the best Adirondack family resorts, as it has an indoor pool and hot tub, has a great proximity to Whiteface Mountain (for skiing & hiking), close to downtown Lake Placid, and much more.

Some more great affordable places to stay are the Placid Bay Hotel (about $150 per night), Cobble Mountain Lodge (about $100 per night), and the Art Devlin’s Olympic Inn (about $200 a night).

6. Rooster Comb Inn

Okay, the Rooster Comb Inn, is MUCH more affordable compared to all the other places listed above, being about $95 a night. However, I would recommend this inn, more for couples and singles, because this place is much more geared towards communal and hostel living. That being said, it is still a GREAT and affordable place to stay, being located in Keene Valley, about 30 minutes from Lake Placid (but in the heart of many different hiking trails). If you only want to hike, specifically, the High Peaks, this is the perfect, most-affordable place to stay.

Some other great affordable places to stay in Keene Valley are Trails End Inn ($160 per night), the Snow Goose Bed and Breakfast, and the Keene Valley Lodge. Now, some other great, affordable places to stay in Lake Placid are the Lake Placid Inn Boutique Hotel (about $108 per night) and the Town House Lodge (about $150 per night).

7. Best Adirondack Cabin Rentals

The Adirondacks hold many great cabin rentals as well. Some of the best Adirondack cabin rentals are the Lake Placid Inn Residences (Lake Placid), the Van Hoevenberg Cabins (Lake Placid), and the Cochran’s Cabins (Saranac Lake).

Many of these rentals include activities such as, hiking, mountain biking, canoeing, dining, snowshoeing, white water rafting, alpine skiing, different styles of cabins and locations, and much more in their stay.

Some great, unique places to stay in the Adirondacks are at any of these Hipcamps. Hipcamps are outdoor places to stay for campers, RVs, van life people, cabins, glamping sites, and more. You can search where you wish to stay based on location, landscape, activities, offered, amenities, and what kind of stay/rental you want to have. They are GREAT for people who truly want a unique and CHEAP place to stay. However, they are definitely more geared towards singles and couples. I wouldn’t recommend having a family stay at a Hipcamp, but if you can make it work, then go for it!

8. Best Places to Camp in the Adirondacks

Another always, affordable option is camping. There are MANY places to camp in the Adirondacks, such as, the Adk Lodge & John Brook’s Lodge (can also stay in rooms here too), Eagle Point Campground (Schroon Lake), Pharaoh Mountain Wilderness, and plenty more places that you can find here. The best time to camp in the Adirondacks is between late May to early October.

In addition, as stated above, Hipcamps are also a great option to stay at. Here are some hipcamps to stay at in the Adirondacks. These are some of the best and most affordable places to stay within the Adirondack Mountains of New York, and most unique places to stay in the Adirondacks.

9. Great AirBnB for a Family/Quiet Getaway

Another great Adirondack town to stay in, is North Creek. North Creek is less than 10 minutes from Gore Mountain (I prefer over Whiteface for skiing) and has some great nearby hiking. A GREAT Airbnb to stay at is The North Creek Maisonette. It has a perfect location, situated right in downtown North Creek. It is right next to a wine bar, and only 3 minutes from Gore Mountain, you can’t beat it! You can find some other great AirBnBs in North Creek here. And some other great AirBnBs in Lake Placid here.

Lastly, located in North Creek, there is another great LUXURIOUS resort, the Garnet Hill Lodge. It is anywhere between $340 to $525 a night to stay at this beautiful resort. It is located right near the Hudson River and Gore Mountain, the lodge offers weddings, mountain biking, skiing, snowshoeing, hiking, swimming, yoga, dining, and other events that you can find here.
