All Inclusive Trips to Spain with Airfare : EF Ultimate Break Tours
If you have never heard of EF Ultimate Break, no worries, I will tell you about them. They are a US travel company that creates and offers tours for young people aged 18-35 years old. A lot of these tours are geared towards young, single people, wanting to meet new people and having awesome experiences. They offer a ton of tours that travel all around the globe. Mainly, they provide trips for Europe and Asia. In my opinion, they are expensive, but if you signup enough in advance and use one of their payment plans, then it is manageable.
Their trips and itineraries do include airfare, however, you can opt out of their airfare and choose your own. I actually recommend doing this because they don’t always choose the best flights available, they choose the cheapest flights available. Also, they almost always never do direct flights to your destinations, so again, I would opt to buy your own airfare there and back. Any flights that occur while you’re already at your destination, they will plan and pay for you. If you opt out of their airfare, the only flights you have to pay for are your flights to and from your first destination on your tour.

Spain Trip Cost : EF Ultimate Break Tours
In total, I paid around 3,400 US dollars for this trip and plus 1,000 US dollars for spending when I was there. The $1,000 included food, drinks, tapas, clubs, tattoo, earrings, tip for tour guide, additional excursions, and souvenirs. You can probably get away with 700 US dollars for spending on this trip. Thus, in total, if you want to book this trip with EF Ultimate break, then I would plan on setting aside/saving at least $4000-$4,5000. Now, if you go on your own planned Spain trip, I think the costs would be around the same. Decent AirBnB’s and hotels will run about $200 per night in Barcelona. Ibiza is about the same, maybe a little more expensive and Valencia will be around $130 per night for places.
As far as airfare goes, my friends and I did have to rearrange and cancel our original flights we booked with EF. We did call them and got almost a full refund on our flights (we had to reschedule our flights 5 days before our departure date). The airport they had us flying out of was not reliable, so we booked our own flights. We booked direct round trip flights with Delta to Barcelona that cost about 872 US dollars. Now, we took this trip in early to middle May, so if you were taking this trip in June or July, flights will be much more expensive. The summer time is the prime time to travel in Spain and all throughout Europe, thus, prices are going to be more.

Spain Trip Itinerary 10 Days : EF Ultimate Break Tours
Okay on to the fun part, what we did! My friends and I were in Spain for a total of 10 days and 9 nights. We left on a Sunday night and arrived Monday afternoon in Barcelona. We fly out of New York City, specifically, JFK airport around 10pm and got into Barcelona around 2pm Monday afternoon. This was a great time because we didn’t have to wait in customs at all, there was no line, it was amazing. Sometimes custom lines can be SUPER long and take at least an hour to get through. So, my friends and I were extremely grateful that didn’t happen to us.
On the day we arrived, since we ended up booking our own flights, we got our own taxi from the airport. If you book flights with EF, then they do provide travel from the airport to the hotel. Our taxi ride was about 40 US dollars, split between 3 people and was about 20 minutes. We did leave a 2 dollar tip. Tipping is not expected in Spain but is acceptable for outstanding service. Typically, you only tip about 1-3 dollars. Now, if you do have a tour guide, then tipping is a little different (your tour guide will explain it).
Once we got to our hotel we checked in and took a long nap. Then we got ready for our welcome dinner that EF planned and paid for. Before the dinner, everyone on the tour met in the restaurant area of the hotel and we all introduced ourselves and our tour guide. Then our tour guide talked about our upcoming week. I loved our tour guide, she was so helpful and communicative to all of us. She had started and talked to us all in a group chat on WhatsApp about a month before the trip. I thought that was super helpful because any questions we had she answered them and also encouraged questions and told us what to expect in Spain.
Spain Trip : Third Day
Okay we wasted no time and really hit the ground running on our third day with sightseeing and tours. Again, EF provided all the transportation and booking. We went to the famous Park Güell (have to book way in advance for tickets if seeing on your own), the Sagrada Familia (Church), and the Parc de Montjuïc. Then we had a free afternoon and an optional additional activity (had to pay extra for). EF had many optional activities you could also book which costed about 50 US dollars each. They had a Flamenco Dance Spectacle, bike tour, Paella cooking class, sunset cruise, liquor making class, catamaran cruise, and cocktail workshop.
I added on 5 of the extra excursions which came to about $200 extra I had to pay when I got there. Also, I tipped our tour guide at the end of the trip about $120. This tip is typical since our tour guide was with us for 10 days and took us everywhere (comes out to about $10-12 per day). I tipped her more because it was my birthday on that trip and she got me some extra things because of this, that I really appreciated.

Spain Trip : Fourth Day
For our fourth day (Wednesday) we were still in Barcelona and took the optional bike tour, paella cooking class, and optional sunset cruise. I went on all these excursions. For people who didn’t book these, our tour guide recommended other things to see and visit. The sunset cruise was on the ocean so if you get seasick, I recommend taking nausea medication beforehand. We also went to the famous Mercat de la Boqueria (famous food market in Barcelona).

Spain Trip : Fifth Day Traveling to Ibiza
Okay, this day (Thursday), we had an early wakeup for our 8:30am flight to Ibiza. Our bus (included in cost of trip) picked us up at 5:30am. Once in Ibiza, we checked in then took another bus into old town, Ibiza. We explored the city and walked to the castle there. Then people who had an optional liquor making class went to that, my friends and I got some food and sangria, then went back to the hotel to nap.
Spain Trip : Sixth Day Free Beach Day in Ibiza
For this day (Friday) we had a free day. We did have to provide our own transportation to a beach (Cala Salada) that we found on our own. However, this beach was TOTALLY worth it. It was absolutely beautiful. This was by far my favorite part of the trip. I loved the beaches in Ibiza. Do be careful, there are tiny, clear/light brown jellyfish in the water. I did get stun by one. It wasn’t bad because the jellies were so tiny. But there were a lot of them in the water and I didn’t want to repetitively get stun by them.
After the beach we went back to our hotel and got ready for the optional catamaran cruise, which my friends and I did signup for. Again, this is on the ocean, so I took nausea medication before I went and I was fine. This was fun and a good way to bond with everyone else on the trip. They provided drinks and dinner.
Nightlife in Ibiza
When we got back from the cruise my friends and I got ready to go out/go to the clubs. If you are interested in this trip, I’m sure you want to know about the nightlife in Ibiza. I really hate to say it, but I did not enjoy the nightlife there. Actually, I was really disappointed with the party scene there. I don’t know if my friends and I were just not looking in the right places but it is all clubs for going out. There are no bars just strictly nightclubs. It might have been better if there was a Dj playing that we recognized at one of the clubs but we didn’t enjoy the night life.
On this night we did go to Hi in Ibiza which is suppose to be the “better” club. We paid $50 to get in and spent maybe an hour there. It was super loud, I couldn’t talk to anyone and I didn’t like the music. If I had liked the music, I definitely would have stayed longer and changed my opinion about the place. We also had to pay for our transportation there and back which was $80 round trip, split between 3 people (the island is more spread out then you think).

Spain Trip : Seventh Day Beach Day
On this day (Saturday), we relaxed and stayed on the beach (Cala Tarida). We got our famous insta beach pics and tanned for awhile. EF did provide transportation for us this day to and back from the beach. Again, the beach we went to was gorgeous. We rented beach chairs for the day that cost 10 euros. It had the turquoise waters and was everything you pictured a typical Mediterranean beach to be. I really liked this beach as well. This day we really just spent relaxing and souvenir shopping.

Spain Trip : Eighth Day Traveling to Valencia
For our eighth day (Sunday), we left Ibiza around 8am to catch a ferry, then about a two hour bus ride to Valencia. Once we got to our hotel, we checked in and went on a tour of the city of Valencia. Then we had a cocktail workshop. The workshop was a lot of fun and we made four drinks and got to drink all of them. This day was actually my birthday and my tour guide was incredibly nice and got me a DELICIOUS piece of cake and a bottle of local wine.
After our workshop, we went to another bar, then we actually went to the club. We went to club Mya, which is actually the biggest club in Valencia. We went to a club on a Sunday night and it was packed but not so packed that you couldn’t move. I really liked club Mya. It might have been because I was really drunk, or that is was my birthday. But I liked the atmosphere in Mya so much better than in Ibiza. The music was also SO MUCH better. It wasn’t just dubstep or edm, it was actual, popular music.
Spain Trip : Ninth Day
This was another free day. EF did provide transportation to the beach. However, my friends and I opt to do a city day instead. We walked around the city and bought more souvenirs. I was also recovering from the previous night, so I took a 3 hour nap. I woke up just in time for our farewell dinner at 7pm. This was one of my favorite meals. They feed us lots of paella, which I love.
Spain Trip : Tenth Day Departure Day
Sadly, on Tuesday the following week, it was time for us to return home. Our flight this day did not leave until 2pm however, we had to bus all the way back to Barcelona. Thus, we still had to leave pretty early so we could catch a 7am bus to get us to the Barcelona airport at 10am. Everything worked out, the bus left right on time and got in right before 10am. I do love the public transportation system in Europe. Almost every country has a metro, trains, buses, walker friendly and has plenty of cabs/ubers to get around.
Once our flight took off, we got back into JFK (New York) around 5pm the same day. It was about an 8 hour flight, but because of the time difference, we still landed in New York at 5pm Tuesday. Barcelona, Spain is six hours ahead of New York time.
In Conclusion : Overall Thoughts
Overall, I had a great time on this tour. There were only two things that bummed me out, expenses and the nightlife in Ibiza. To me, Ibiza is a little overrated, for the nightlife. Now, for the beaches, it’s gorgeous. Also, the buildings were a little run down. On the bright side, our tour guide was amazing, we saw beautiful architure, beaches, cities, met great people, ate good food, and drank a lot of sangria.
On the other hand, the things I didn’t like about EF were having to switch my flights, how expensive everything was and half the activities were not included. However, when I added everything up, I would say you could do this trip for about $3,000 on your own and stay at decent places and go on just as many excursions. So, all in all, it would be a little cheaper if you booked this on your own. But, I will say, EF has pretty reasonable deals. I would have only saved about $400 if I booked everything on my own.
The things I did like about EF was our tour guide, they provided transportation almost everywhere, the activities they planned, the cities we visited, and food/drinks we got to have. Also, our tour guide provided us with our Spain trip itinerary, before we left. Thus, we could reference the planner to help us pack. In addition, breakfast was included everywhere even on our early travel days. Overall, I would recommend EF to people and of course, Spain. Thank you so much for reading and I hope this blog was helpful to you if you are trying to book a Spain trip! Thank you and take care!
